STYLE GUIDE : Fashion Thrifting 2018

If you've been following the latest trends, you've probably noticed that vintage fashion is back in. Andile Biyana says that because of vintage fashion and thrifting, we've been seeing elements of the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s in contemporary fashion. Bellbottoms, off-the-shoulder tops and dresses, and recycled and used clothing have become part of popular culture.

"I for one prefer to thrift because of the quality retail stores had back then, and the style. As much as my style has evolved to modern retro, I still see the beauty of receiving hand-me-downs from my mother.

"The best part of wearing vintage and retro clothing in a modern world is that I get the opportunity to literally wear someone's history. I'm responsible for telling their story. I also have the privilege of knowing that no one else will be wearing my outfit," says Andile.

"The beauty of vintage fashion," Andile adds, "is that the fashion world is turning back the hands of time for something fashion forward."

Yes indeed, vintage thrifting might actually be the future, and we're here for it.
