A Firmiliar Fling: Editorial
The rays of the sun fall warmly over the mountains as the season makes its introduction, the wind brings back all that is loved and familiar Like romance, the appearance of Spring is subtle; it comes as a fragrance. It wraps around the skin and its scent is welcomed. When Summer comes, the scent that inspires blossoming, restlessness and freedom still lingers.
Indeed, it is that much anticipated time of year where the once frosted skin can openly meet with the sun's glow and the air can caress a wrist without any resistance. And as it naturally should, fashion is here to help make that happen.
This season, fashion brings the bare shoulder and the voluminous sleeve as the season's "it" trends.
From the women of 1800s painted basking in the sunlight, to the women of the 1970s with flowers in their hair, the bare shoulder and the voluminous sleeve have always made their reappearances. But of course, what better way to welcome the warmth than with a "cool shoulder"?
Both trends have managed to time travel through history to become a part of the cloth we cherish today.
Whether we credit their popularity to the runway, street fashion or to social media, the trends are a natural reaction to the season. And, of course, a flared sleeve has that ability to add drama to any outfit. What is Summer without a little bit of drama?
